"Seimei" is "Seimei" Your name is your life
"Shimei" is "shimei" Your name is your task
*The words above reads the same but uses different kanji (Japanese Character) which change the meaning of each word.
Your name will stay with you through your life from the day you were born until the day you die.
It's not just a symbol but also represents the power that lies within you.
The meaning of your existence and your role.
Of which, even you, would forget about it, about your true self.
Works of Junko-do are made from the meaning of kanji (Japanese Character) that's used in a name.
For foreigners who don't use kanji (Japanese Character) for their name, I will choose kanji (Japanese Character) that match with how your name is pronounced and I will write a poem expressing its meaning.
Please listen and accept with your heart the message your name will tell you.
*Please note that Junko-do works is based on how your name would be pronounced in Japanese and the interpretation is based on the meaning of the kanjis representing the sound especially picked for you by Junko-do. Thus, it's not always representing the original meaning of your name.
I became aware of the beauty of Japanese culture during my 3 months stay in Mexico in 2006. After returning to Japan I began to work as a Japanese culture guide in Kyoto.
As a part to introduce Japanese culture, I started to do Japanese calligraphy.
In the beginning, I wrote kanji (Japanese Character) that matches the pronunciation of foreigners name and explained its meaning. By doing so, gradually I began to aware of the depth of Japanese names.
I realized that the name itself represents the person.
I then studied the origin of kanji (Japanese Character) and started my work writing Japanese calligraphy as a poem expressing the meaning of each name.
